Let The Birds Fly
Let the birds fly
See just how freely they roam
Time will pass on by
You see now, they’re ready, I know
Things never seem to be
I’ve waited so patiently
I can’t wait anymore
I’m ready now can’t you see?
So you think you’re enough
Think I just don’t stand a chance
We’ll see when things get rough
Come on now, don’t shoot me that glance
Let the birds fly
See just how freely they roam
Time will pass on by
You see now, they’re ready to go
I can’t see anymore
My eyes, they’re too tired to care
I can see you through the door
Come out now, act like you’re here
What’s your deal this time?
We’ve cried, the tears just washed away
I can see your staircase climb
I turned, you refused to stay
Everything comes to an end
I don’t believe you, what now my friend?
I’ll meet you around the bend
You never showed, I ended up dead
Let this bird fly
See just how freely I roam
Time will pass on by
You see now, I’m ready to go
Other Side of The Sea
When you’re worried & blue, Your feet stuck in the sand
And the only sense of time is what’s ticking on your hand
Tell me do you believe, or do you not know?
What’s in store later down the road
No one really knows
When and where they’re bound to go
You can take a look and see
But it may not be
What you’re looking for
It’s a path that’s shed with light
A light you and I can’t see
Are you really aware, do you know someone there
On the other side of the sea
Can you feel the current shake
And rumble neath your feet
On the land, on the shore
Is where my future’s in store
On the other side of the sea
You and I may really not know
What will be and what there is to show
I’m taking that risk and boarding the ship
That will only take me home
No one really knows
When and where they’re bound to go
You can take a look and see
But it may not be
What you’re looking for
It’s a path that’s shed with light
A light you and I can’t see
Are you really aware, do you know someone there
On the other side of the sea
On & On
It’s so hard when people ask me how I feel
There’s nothing to explain, nothing to conceal
Keep on wondering, keep on telling me
Just to seem real
I've got enough on my mind, gonna take some time to heal
I’ll be leaving, I’ll be gone
Don’t mean to lead you on
I’ve been singing the same damn song
To forget that you’re gone
But I can’t, the thought rolls on
And on, and on, and on, and on
Like a freightliner through my heart, It just tears me apart
Water’s rising and like an ark, things just drifting apart
The things that fill, this old world, they just don’t come to heart
And I know I’ve been with it girl, it’s just so hard
It’s just so hard, It’s just so hard
Make my bed up and mow the yard
Get done, drive my car
Thoughts are spinning through my ears just like a birthday card
And tell me it goes on and on
And on, and on, and on ,and on
And on and on and on and on and on and on ………
How Ya Doin' Little Sadie?
How ya doin’ little Sadie?
Oh I’d really like to know
How ya doin’ honey baby?
Tell me where did you go?
I looked all over Austin, honky tonked in Houston too
I was singing about losing
And losing was my loss of you
How ya doin’ little Sadie?
Oh I’d really like to know
How ya doin’ honey baby?
Tell me where did you go?
You could have been something
Something lost or something new
Something other than what I see now
Something other than the you in you
But it’s alright, we both see now
What and how we have become
We both see the brightness burning
Burning to the rhythm of
Of you, little Sadie?
Oh I’d really like to know
How ya doin’ honey baby?
Tell me where did you go?
Did you cry or were you screaming
For a name so high above
Did he talk to you little Sadie?
Did you see God’s true love?
It’s all over little Sadie
We both know it’s so sad to go
But I’ll see you on the other side
And if I’m ready, would you let me know
Let me know little Sadie
Oh I’d really like to go
How ya doin’ honey baby?
Tell me where did you go?
Tell me where did you go?
I Just Can't Help But Getting' The Blues
They keep following me, I can’t seem to shake them out
They’ll be with me when I sleep
I can see, there’s no doubt
Will they leave me when I move?
Stop and shake me when I’m through?
There’s only one thing I know that’s true
I just can’t help but gettin’ the blues
Will I see them when they show?
Will they follow me on down the road?
When they’re here, I feel the same refuse
I just can’t help but gettin’ the blues
Will they show themselves?
Will I know or be able to tell?
They won’t seem like passing through
Oh, can you feel it too?
Once a day and twice a night
The same thing strikes me with a fright
How can I know what to do?
When I can’t help but gettin’ the blues
Will I see them when they show?
Will they follow me on down the road?
When they’re here, I feel the same refuse
I just can’t help but gettin’ the blues
The same old show rolls on, with nothing left to lose
How can I know what to do?
If all I can do is get the blues
Will I see them when they show?
Will they follow me on down the road?
When they’re here, I feel the same refuse
I just can’t help but gettin’ the blues
Lord you know it’s true
I just can’t help but gettin’ the blues
Monday Morning Blues
Rolled into town about supper time
My pen was broke my typewriter was fine
Just hoping to find something to move my mind
All I saw was an old lady just standing there crying
Used to be simple, I guess so
Or else nobody was willing to show
Just maybe what they were going through
I just ate my lunch and passed on through
I woke up on Monday in the morning hour
Drove through a meadow of beaten old flowers
Wishing I was smelling the morning dew
Instead I woke up here on Monday feeling blue
What's the reason of feeling this way
Some people won't tell me, some will just say
There's an old story it went this way
I'd just get bored and walk away
My suitcase was tattered, my thoughts were clean
I painted a picture of some nice scenery
Thought it might just improve my mood
But it made me mad and I threw it across the room
I woke up on Monday in the morning hour
Drove through a meadow of beaten old flowers
Wishing I was smelling the morning dew
Instead I woke up here on Monday feeling blue
Hey hey lady, can I talk to you?
My brother disowned me, my hound dog too
Could you spare me just a few
So I can buy a cigarette and a Mountain Dew
I haven't had much luck right about now
I lost my girlfriend, someone shot my cow
I guess that's all I have to say
Before I swing here to another day
I woke up on Monday in the morning hour
Drove through a meadow of dandelion flowers
Wishing I was somewhere next to you
Instead I'm 12 feet under smelling some old man's shoes
Well it's monday morning and I'm lying here under the dew
Tell Me Why
You don’t ever talk about, I don’t know why
You don’t ever sing about, I don’t care why
I wonder why I’m wondering about wondering why
I wonder why you even give me the time of day
It ain’t a waste you say
And I’m thinking about it, can’t seem to think today
What’s the use of wondering if you never know why
What’s the use of laughing when all you do is cry
Would it be a shame to know why
That’s all I’m asking this time
Why do you always look so sad
Why do you always seem so bad at guessing
The way you really are
Why do you always look beat out, cheat out and need out
Tell me why, why, why
Tell me why
Seems just like I don’t care anymore
Seems just like everyone wants a little more and more
Who’s gonna stop and close the door?
My brain’s all scrambled, it’s a big huge mess
My pain from the same things seems to all digress
To the same old stress
Why do you always look so sad
Why do you always seem so bad at guessing
The way you really are
Why do you always look beat out, cheat out and need out
tell me why, why, why
Tell me why
Hillbilly
You may say I’m hillbilly
Or country, or just really
Not up to the standards that you’ve set
You can justify your reasons or change them, or just leave them
But honey, you better come and listen yet
Hillbilly, Hillbilly, just a normal old billy
Coming from an elevated spot
You can call me a hillbilly, or anything really
But don’t call me something I’m not
I may drive something lifted
Not be, academically gifted
According to the way that you talk
But for me, I’m just different
I like squirrel meat and home cooking
And chew it up when I talk
Now man that might seem a little mean talkin about country folk that way
Walkin’ around in coveralls drippin’ tobaccer juice playin a banjo
Maybe a fiddle, singin real loud across the mountain
Singin, about, about, about a
Hillbilly, Hillbilly, just a normal old billy
Coming from an elevated spot
You can call me a hillbilly, or anything really
But don’t call me something I’m not
They may be high, but they ain’t wasted
They’re just way up there listening
To the sounds the birds and the trees make
It ain’t wrong, just country
And man are they lucky
To be away from a lot
You Lucky!
Hillbilly, Hillbilly, just a normal old billy
Coming from an elevated spot
You can call me a hillbilly, or anything really
But don’t call me something I’m not
Fine Toothed Comb
Well I'm a struttin' on down that road
The only road I know
See her there in her golden hair
Standing with a fine toothed comb
Said hey little darling
Would you let me want to borrow
Something of your own
I'm desperate for a groom
Need it pretty soon
Let me use your fine toothed comb
Sixteen towns and different sounds
Coming through the radio
Muddy water ringing
High lonesome singing
Running through the ole banjo
Thought I'd wake up early today
Fix myself a brew
Woke up late
No time to explain
Guess that's nothing new
Well I'm a struttin' on down that road
The only road I know
See her there in her golden hair
Standing with a fine toothed comb
Feeling pretty shaggy down in the valley
Somewhere round TN
started feeling better
Right when I got a letter
On of the border of Mississippi
I got to the station
What a relief
Only bout a quarter to 3
Then I see a shady looking figure standing there looking at me
I hollered oh what do you want
There's nothing here to see
It looked kinda funny
Then she came a running
No more on my own
Here she comes
Sweet little darling
Carrying my fine toothed comb
Come on now, come on give me, give me back my fine toothed comb
Well, Come on now, come on give me, give me back my fine toothed comb
What Can I Do?
Hey hey baby whatcha trying to do
I think there’s something I need from you
If you can’t tell me what’ll it be
What you trying to pull on me
Because this time won’t be the last
What can I do for you to notice
What can I say that will maybe show this
Constant ringing in my ear
I can see the way you look at me
But I really can’t tell what it’s supposed to be
So tell me baby, what can I do?
When I drive by I can see you nod
But I never really see you smile looking back at me
Please let me know is there something I’ve missed
Because I want another shot at this
And you and me and everything it could be
What can I do for you to notice
What can I say that will maybe show this
Constant ringing in my ear
I can see the way you look at me
But I really can’t tell what it’s supposed to be
So tell me baby, what can I do?
I know I’ve got to try and show this
But could you let me know if it’s worth it
You’re like reading a book in the middle of the night
There’s got to be something to do
That’ll maybe help me grab ahold of you
So tell me baby, what can I do?
What can I do for you to notice
What can I say that will maybe show this
Constant ringing in my ear
I can see the way you look at me
But I really can’t tell what it’s supposed to be
So tell me baby, what can I do?
Please just tell me baby!
What can I do?
A Little More
All the boys & girls know what’s poppin’
And it sure ain’t trains they’re hopping
I just want, a little more
A little more to make me feel easy
A little more lemon squeezy
Ah come on now
I need a little more
I was cruising on down the black top
Jamming to some hard rock
Thinking, I had scored
Then it came & hit me like a bad dream
Where I was standing there screaming
and wanting, a little more
A little more to make me feel easy
A little more lemon squeezy
Ah come on now
I need a little more
A little more loud to your silence
And a little more of a little less violence
Come on now, I need a little more
I haven’t had time to see it yet
But I know one day I’m gonna see it again
Knocking on my front door
Knocking just like an old acquaintance
Saying they can help with your maintenance
And wanting a little more
A little more to make me feel easy
A little more lemon squeezy
Ah come on
I need a little more
A little more loud to your silence
And a little more of a little less violence
Come on now, I need a little more
