Mark Twain

Grown out of my hometown

Tired of paying dues

Ready for relieving

Ready for renew

Walking by the river

Down by the shady bar

Wandering around Hannibal

Wondering where we are

I drove across the country

To hear my songs and play

In the little juke joints

Wherever I could stay

And it was back through Minnesota

Driving through the rain

Surely the miles

Are gonna soon outweigh the pain

Picking sagebrush on the highway

Summer heat gone insane

Leaving hills of western land

North Dakota hills and rain

East Montana looks the same

I was washed up in a river

Missouri mud in my brain

Reading lines that were colored by the land

Roughing it like Mark Twain

Roughing it like Mark Twain
